We currently have an opportunity available for a Licenced Avionics Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, the following:

Join our team as an AME and lead the way in workplace safety. Return aircraft to service with precision, following Sunwest's policies and CARs. Oversee avionics projects, maintaining control throughout. Keep aircraft electronic systems in peak condition, from communication to navigation and autopilot equipment. Conduct thorough inspections and tests, diagnosing and resolving electrical malfunctions with confidence. Collaborate with technical experts to gather engineering and repair data. Document maintenance diligently and adapt configurations as needed. Operate ground service equipment and handle parts purchase and receiving. Support rescue missions and mentor new engineers while completing Service Difficulty Reports. Maintain tool control and stay up-to-date with training. The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and competencies. In addition personality profiling will be required of all candidates granted an interview for this position.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:

  • Transport Canada approved Avionics and Electronics Technology Program or Approved ICS correspondence.
  • Transport Canada AME License Category E.
  • Ability to maintain a Restricted Airside Identification Card.
  • Radio Licence
  • Ability to refer to and follow technical manuals, written in terse abbreviated language.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Diagnostic skills requiring sound knowledge of aircraft electrical and avionics systems, and basic applied mechanics.
  • Have a good understanding of CAR’s
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to work with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Mechanical aptitude is a necessity.
  • Good literacy and numerical skills.
  • Problem solving skills are critical in handling challenging and complex aircraft system snags.
  • Good communication skills required, both verbal and written.
  • Efficient, with good time management skills.
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Self-motivated and the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to work in challenging “4 season” weather conditions.

  • A valid Canadian passport is an asset.
